Proposed writing retreat workshop for Durham PhDs nearing completion

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is considering running an AHRC-funded Writing Retreat workshop for those nearing the end of their PhDs.
The writing retreat is a training event and an opportunity to dedicate some quality time to writing your thesis in a supportive environment. There will be some structured activities focusing on writing skills and the writing challenges you are confronting at the moment. Facilitators and an external consultant will participate at different points throughout the stay.
This retreat would likely take place in mid-September and will be held at Shepherds Dene retreat house near Consett (
Bed, breakfast and dinner will be provided to you for two nights. You will only need to arrange your own travel to and from the venue, instructions for which will be sent out to participants (for those with no access to private transport, this will involve a train journey from Durham to Consett, and a one-mile journey from the station to the venue).
If you would like to register your interest for this retreat, please email me by Thursday 6th August at stating your name, department, programme and year of study. Please also give a short statement (maximum 100 words) stating your reasons for wishing to attend such an event, and the benefits you would hope to gain from it. In the event of heavy demand, this statement may be used in a selection process for participants.
